Through Pangandaran Run, Unpad Supports Pangandaran to Become a World-Class Tourism Destination

Chairman of the Committee Anggi Nugraha said that this category 5K and 10K marathon race was attended by 964 participants. The release of the 10K marathon was carried out by Unpad Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad. While the release of the 5K was carried out by Pangandaran Regency Government Assistant II Ade Supriatna.

“In this competition, there is the youngest participant with the age of 12 years and the oldest over 60 years,” Anggi said.

When giving a speech after the race, the Chancellor said the “Pangandaran Run 2018” marathon competition was held as an effort to support Pangandaran to become a world-class tourism destination. “Unpad supports the benefit for Pangandaran. This is one of the presence efforts of Unpad in Pangandaran, “said the Chancellor.

Furthermore, the Rector said that the first competition held was expected to become the annual agenda of PSDKU Unpad Pangandaran. He also hoped that the “Pangandaran Run” event next year can be followed by foreign runners.

In addition to the marathon race, “Pangandaran Run” also featured the breaking of the Muri record for the most Pindang Gunung dishes served ever. A total of 2018 servings of Pindang Gunung were presented in this event. Pindang Gunung itself is a traditional cuisine from Pangandaran Regency.

“This dish is cooked by family welfare women activists from 10 sub-districts in Pangandaran Regency,” Anggi said.

Meanwhile, Regent of Pangandaran H. Jeje Wiradinata appreciated the holding of a marathon race and the Muri record breaking of Pindang Gunung serving. This record breaking at the same time raises Pangandaran’s unique culinary to become more known to the public.

The event was enlivened by the appearance of art and door prize distribution. The winner of this marathon race was entitled to get cash of Rp.7.5 millions rupiah for first place, Rp.5 millions for second place, and Rp.3 millions for third place. *
