[Unpad.ac.id, 31/08/2016] Professor Emeritus Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. (em) Dr. Ir. Rasjid Sukarja, passed away in Advent Hospital, Bandung, Wednesday (31/08) at the age of 86 year old. The Last Respect ceremony for the deceased was led by Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, in Masjid Al-Jihad Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, on the same day.
“With deep sorrow, today all the great family of Unpad had to send off one of its best members,” said the Rector when giving words of respect.
The deceased was born in Ciamis, July 30, 1930, since 1 November 1959 he has served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. The deceased had served in a variety of positions at the Faculty of Agriculture Unpad, ranging from Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Period of 1964-1966, and Dean of the Agriculture Faculty of the period 1966-1968 and 1968-1970. His Professor Position was acquired late in 1986.
Aside from being a leader in the Faculty of Agriculture Unpad, the deceased has also been a Director of PTPN Gambung in 1975 and Rector of the University of Bandung Raya period 1992-1996, and 1996-2000.
According to Rector, many examples can be taken from the deceased with his achievement in Unpad. In addition to serve as an educator at the Faculty of Agriculture Unpad, the deceased contributed heavily to the development of the university and agriculture science. This should be continued by the next generation of Unpad.
After the release, the deceased was immediately buried to TPU Cibarunai Bandung. He left three children. One of the deceased child is Cahya Irawady, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., Director of Finance who is also lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Padjadjaran. *
