Yoji Sato Closed Asian Community Lectures Events in Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 26/07/2016] President of One Asia Foundation, Yoji Sato, gave public lecture at Asian Community Lectures in Bale Sawala Rectorate Building Campus Jatinangor, Tuesday (26/07). This subject was the last public cover from the lecture series of the Asian Community Lectures (ACL) held by Unpad and One Asia Foundation in February until July.

Attending the event were Vice Rector for Research, Community Engagement, Cooperation, Innovation, and Business, Dr. Keri Lestari, Chair of the Academic Senate Unpad Prof. Oekan S. Abdoellah, PhD, Coordinator of ACL Unpad Prof. Dede Mariana, as well as representatives of One Asia Foundation Indonesia Diani Risda, M.Ed.

“One Asia Foundation is an organization committed to contribute to the formation of communities of One Asia,” Sato said when the opening a public lecture.

Commitment to establishing Asian community is always implemented in every public lecture ACL. This community as a place of unification of countries in the Asian subcontinent regardless of their economic, cultural, social, and political condiction.

Sato said that there are three principles upheld by the Japan based organization. First, the organization does not discriminate against any particular ethnic group or nation. Secondly, it is not tied to a particular religion or belief, and is less concerned about political problems and economic conditions throughout the country.

Sato also said that ACL was successfully in from 400 universities in 45 countries in Asia, Europe, to Africa.

Indonesia, Sato said, is one of the participating countries of One Foundation, which has organized activities ACL in seven colleges, including Unpad. Currently, there are three other universities in Indonesia that will host ACL activities.

He guarantees that One Foundation is not affiliated with any party. “We want to establish relationships and provide understanding between countries in Asia related to the importance of the Asian community. This ACL indicates a neutral activity and not the slightest benefit Japan, “explained Sato.

On the occasion, Sato also delivered a public lecture on the importance of knowing the existence of the human self as the identity of the state.

ACL series in Unpad has been held in 13 lectures. In addition to speakers from Universitas Padjadjaran, ACL public lecture also invited ITB Rector Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi, Rector UPI Prof. Furqan, Prof. Chung Joon-Kon, Senior Researcher of One Asia Foundation, National Chi Nan University Lecturer Prof. Taiwan David Wu Hsun Yang, PhD., Director of Information and Public Communication, and staff the Embassy of Indonesia in Japan.

In addition to holding a public lecture, One Foundation also provides educational scholarships to 20 students participating in the ACL. This scholarship is awarded to students who produce the best essay in the competition for the title of ACL progress. Each student got a scholarship valued at $ 200 Dollars.

Dr. Keri also appreciated the implementation of ACL at Universitas Padjadjaran. This activity is expected to inspire college students and presenters to keep focusing on important issues regarding the idea of Asia. *
