Unpad Held Break Fast Event with Orphans in Jatinangor

[Unpad.ac.id, 24/06/2016] In improving silahturahmi, Universitas Padjadjaran and the academia and orphans from the neighborhood Jatinangor held a break fast event, at Masjid Raya Aweuhan Bale Universitas Padjadjaran Campus Jatinangor, Thursday (23/06).

“This is a moment to share happiness, especially together with orphans,” said Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad during his speech. The joint opening ceremony was also attended by a number of university leaders and faculty members, faculty, staff, students, local residents, as well as the board of Dharma Wanita Persatuan Unpad.

Rector said that it is Unpad’s commitment to develop the attitude of increasing the capacity of the orphans. According to him, the investment in the development of human resources, especially to orphans, are believed to contribute in participating in building the nation’s progress.

“Giving to orphans is a part of an extraordinary practice. We believe they could later become potential agents of development, “added Rector.

Education, the Rector said, is a good means to increase the capacity of orphans. Living a life in the orphanage has been said to be able to increase the capacity in terms of character, quality, and ability. This capacity will be enhanced by Unpad through affirmation of the future program.

“It will simultaneously ensure their future, and at least we (Unpad) has contributed in helping orphans with established character during their time in the orphanage,” said Rector.

On the occasion, Unpad also presented gifts for 150 orphaned children in the five institutions, namely Orphanage Riyadhul Jannah, Orphanage Latiful Muhtadin, DKM At-Taqwa, Pondok Pesantren Al-Quran Nurul Huda, and Orphanage Hikmatul Ayat. The gift was symbolically given to the representatives of each institution by Lisda Sigid Suseno and Yulliaty Arry Bainus as board members of Dharma Wanita Unpad.

Lisda said that the gifts are in the form of school supplies, snacks, and clothing. In addition, the gifts were also given to Putri Amalia, as an orphans who excelled in education in Jatinangor.

In addition, during the month of Ramadan, Rector and Vice Rectors also performed Safari Ramadan to all faculties in Unpad. During the visit, Rector and Vice Rectors would hold dialogue with faculty leaders, lecturers, and academic staff about the current conditions of faculty environment.*
