[Unpad.ac.id, 10/05/2016] To achieve the vision of the Universitas Padjadjaran as “University of Research and Regional Competitive” and provided for the general public, involvement of various parties, including the alumni was required. The role of alumni taking parts in various areas of life in society was considered very important to stand together along with the entire academic community, Universitas Padjadjaran in achieving its intended purpose.

“The advancement of Universitas Padjadjaran is not solely the effort of its civitas academia but also large role of its alumni,” said Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad during his speech at Unpad Graduation Ceremony Wave III Academic Year 2015/2016 in Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur 35 Bandung, Tuesday (10/03).

During the graduation ceremony, Rector inaugurated 2,202 graduates. The number included 91 students of Doctoral programs, 383 of Master program, 85 of Specialist Program, 36 of Professional Program, 1,352 of Undergraduate Program, and 255 of Diploma Program. The graduation ceremony would be held in five sessions, until Thursday (12/05).

On the occasion, Rector also gave a message to the graduates, to always maintain the good name of Universitas Padjadjaran. “Keep in contact with the alma mater, so that we together shoulder to shoulder dedicating our potential for our respective channeled into a benefit for the nation of Indonesia,” he said.

To the best graduates, Rector gave his utmost appreciation. The best graduates are Ranti Rachmawanti from Literature Study Program Faculty of Humanities as Best Graduate from Doctoral Program, Abdianul Haiqal from Management Study Program Faculty of Economics and Business as Best Graduate of Magister Program, Yolanda from Dental Conservation Science Study Program Faculty of Dentistry as Best Graduate of Specialist Program, Soh Sin Hui from Dentistry Study Program Faculty of Dentistry as best graduate of Profession Program, Maria Adriatne Prasetyaningrum from Mathematics Study Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science as Best Graduate of Undergraduate Program, and Khoirunnisa Umami from Administration Study Program Faculty of Social and Political Science as best graduate of Diploma III Program.

“In this opportunity, Universitas Padjadjaran also presented award for the oldest graduate, Yayat Hendayana from Literature Program Study Faculty of Arts graduating at 72 year 8 month. Meanwhile the youngest graduate was Friska Amelia Pratiwi from Statistics Program Study Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences graduating at 19 year and 6 months,” said Rector.

In his speech, Rector also explained the role of transformative education in support of sustainable development. At the moment, Universitas Padjadjaran has a strong commitment to support sustainable development, in particular in maintaining environmental sustainability, by encouraging adherence to the norms and rules in accordance with the Basic Scientific Pattern Unpad namely Bina Mulia Law and Environmental in National Development.

Unpad also strives to be one of the universities able to contribute to advancement of people’s lives. “Education developed at Universitas Padjadjaran should be transformative, the education that is capable of turning and walking toward better towards a sustainable future, “said Rector. *
