[Unpad.ac.id, 14/01/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran performed increase of bandwidth capacity from 1 Gigabit per second to 3 Gbps. This improvement was made in the context of information technology revitalization throughout Unpad campus. This increase was marked by the signing letter of agreement for bandwidth procurement ceremony for Unpad Academic Year of 2016 between Unpad and PT. Telecommunications Indonesia.
The signing ceremony was done by Director of Technology and Information Systems Unpad Drs. Gatot Riwi, M.Sc. and EGM Enterprise Service Division PT Telkom Siti Choiriana on Wednesday (13/1) afternoon in Executive Lounge Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35 Bandung during the meeting with the leaders from Universitas Padjadjaran and Telkom. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by witnessed by Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Ahmad and Director of Enterprise & Business PT Telkom, M. Awaluddin.
Gatot said that increase in bandwidth to 3Gbps is expected to increase Internet speed for performance requirements of Universitas Padjadjaran. It certainly could be used to support academic society in their activities, to support office activities such as implementation of e-office systems, as well as implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) which is still under discussion.
Furthermore Gatot said that through agreement, Unpad will receive other various facilities, such as free SMS service broadcast by 10 thousand SMS/month, and metro connection capacity of 100 MB.
As for other revitalization programs conducted by Directorate of Technology and Information Systems is fiber optic cabling in the building. “In the future we will also optimize provision of internet networks on campus Arjasari and Ciparay,” said Gatot. *
