[Unpad.ac.id, 23/12/2013] In order to boost innovation and creativity, Unpad, organized Motekar Award, which consisted of a series of events from September to December 2013. The final session was organized in Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata, Unpad campus in Dipati Ukur, on Monday (23/12).

According to the head of the event organizer, Wawan Hermawan, the event was attended by 98 participants from West Java, Banten, and Central Java, 56 of whom competed in the first category technology innovation; 29 in creative economy; and 23 in scientific engineering.

Bringing a theme ‘breaking the shackles, growing creativities,’ the event was organized to enable participants to free themselves from intellectual confinement. It also aimed to create innovation and creativity that would benefit the society at large, not limited to academic life.

“Quoting Professor Yuyun Wirasasmita, Unpad former rector, ‘innovation is the key to entrepreneurship. It has to be consistently developed for the benefit of the people,” said Prof. Ganjar Kurnia when giving his speech at the session.

After going through several processes of selection, adjudicated by experts from Unpad, ITB, IPB, Ministry of Research and Technology, Ministry of Creative Economy, and Ministry of Social Affairs, three participants in each category won the awards.

In the category of technology innovation, the awards, Anugerah Rucita  Inovasi Teknologi, went to Mutiara Pramudya Ningtyas  for her research on Degrading Styrofoam using indigenus polistirena, Farid Baraba for his power weeder machine, and Andika Elok Amalia for her research on Indonesian Port Simulation.

In the category of creative economy, the awards, Anugerah Rucita Ekonomi Kreatif,  went to Muhammad Nur Khawarizmi (Q-Art Code Souvenir), Aditia Rahmat Sentiaji (Play me Congklak), and Devi Niidasri Sinaga (Jas Sepatu). In the last category, the awards, Anugerah Rucita Rekayasa Ilmiah, went to Rahmat Djudju Djunaedi for his mobile library; Apip Firmansyah for his efforts in creating young entrepreneurs; and Tomy Perdana for his modern retail market system.
