PK2PS Unpad Survey on Bandung Mayor Candidates Electability

[Unpad.ac.id, 13/05/2013] As Bandung Mayor Election is coming near, Unpad Statistic Expertise and Study Center (PK2S) conducted a survey on the electability of all candidates, which also shows people’s political participation, candidate popularity, and their level of electability.

“The survey is not similar to quick count. Quick count bases their data on election sites where real data are taken. As for this survey, data are taken from questionnaires distributed to future voters. Accordingly, the survey result may change from time to time based on the progression of political situation in Bandung,” said Toni Toharudin, the chair of PK2S.

The first survey was held in March and April, using two-way stratification sampling design with 2.5% margin error. All 1,700 respondents, with various professional backgrounds, are residents of Bandung, coming from all sub-districts.

As for political participation, the citizens are highly motivated to take part in the election, evident in 91.68% respondents are involved. Should the election have go on second round, the participation slightly decreases into 81.12%. “Participation is subject to change. It depends on programs that each candidate offers,” said Toharudin.

The following is the list of candidates ranked based on their electability level:

1. Ayi-Nani Calon serial number 5, 17.76%
2. Edi Siswadi-Erwan serial number 1, 12.24%

4. Iswara-Asep serial number 6, 2.65%

6. Budi-Rizal serial number 7, 2.06%
7. Wawan-Sayogo serial number 3, 0.41%
