[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran students from FMIPA’s Electrical Engineering program have won silver at the IEEE Robotics Competition Stage 1 Indonesia Section held at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, Semarang, on April 25-27.

The students are M. Arsyad Faridhan, Adnnia Nafis Qulub Aina, Anita Sofia Rahmi, and Rafa Alfetino Maulana. Together, the students make up a team called ALorInt which won second place, earning them a chance to go through to Stage 2 and represent Indonesia at the Southeast Asian level.

The team was supervised by an Electrical Engineering professor from the faculty, Arjon Turnip, Ph.D, in designing a robotics project titled Autonomous Logistic Interactive Robot, according to a release received by Unpad Media Channel. The development of the project was based on the prevalence of theft in pharmaceutical storage facilities.

The thefts are, in actuality, more commonly perpetrated by parties from within the company. This has an impact on the increase of losses suffered by the company. With that in mind, the team designed their technology to increase the security within the facilities’ systems.

IEEE Robotics Competition Stage 1 Indonesia Section was part of the 2024 IEEE Region 10 Robotics Competition which opens up opportunities for students to develop innovative robotic projects to solve the many problems of daily life.

At the event, Arsyad, as the team leader, expressed his gratitude of their achievement. The team is optimistic they will continue to succeed in Stage 2. (rilis/ICP)*
