Five Subjects of Unpad Enters the QS WUR by Subject 2024

[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran’s achievements on the QS World Univerity Rankings by Subject (QS WUR by Subject) were released on Wednesday (10/4/2024). This year, five subjects at Unpad successfully enter the rankings.

The five subjects are Law and Legal Studies (251 – 300), Economics and Econometrics (401 – 450), Agriculture (401 – 450), Medicine (451 – 500), also Business and Management Studies (551 – 600).

The number of recognized subjects in this ranking has increased compared to last year, which totaled four subjects. Agriculture becomes the new subject which directly enters the top 500 of QS WUR by Subject.

Aside from adding one new subject, Unpad’s ranking for every subject are also increased. The subject of Law and Legal Studies successfully moves up to the 251 – 300 ranks this year after previously being in ranks 300 – 350. Economics and Econometrics successfully moves up 50 ranks after being in the 451 – 500 position.

The subject of Medicine moves up after previously on the 500 – 551 position. Furthermore, the subject of Business and Management Studies successfully maintains its position like the previous year. 

The Rector of Unpad Rina Indiastuti appreciates the Unpad’s achievement on QS WUR by Subject. This indicates the efforts done by Unpad to improve the quality of education and research recognized by the world, which shows positive results.

“This presents the quality of Unpad’s which continues to increase from the perspective of international forum assessments,” she said. 

Recognized by the Rector, the efforts to enhance the quality will be confronted by significant challenges ahead; that is how Unpad can maintain and even improve (the quality) more. Therefore, the good practices implemented by the Unpad academic community must continue demonstrating optimal outcomes and achievements.

Indeed, the practice will always be encouraged by the executive boards through various policies which is capable of stimulating the improvement of the quality of the three pillars of education. “So, there is a synergy between the policy and program proposed by the university with the spirit from the professors and students,” she added.

Aside from the motivation to enhance the quality of education and research, the Rector also encourages the academic community to establish more networks with the international academic community. Hopefully, the academic community of Unpad will be more easy going and accepted on the international community.

“There must be more frequency, making more new friends,” said the Rector. 

Moreover, the Rector said that the positive accomplishment achieved on QS WUR by Subject is hoped to increase Unpad’s recognition on the 2025 QS World University Rankings.

“In addition of being grateful, we hope the academic community of Unpad also maintain its spirit, and we, at the university, are balancing between the policy and program (encouraging),” concluded the Rector. (arm/SA)*
