[Unpad Media Channel] A total of 102 students from Universitas Padjadjaran are selected as participants in “Indonesia International Student Mobility Awards” or IISMA program and IISMA Vocational in 2024 by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Head of Unpad International Office, dr. Ronny, M.Kes., PhD, AIFO, said that the number of Unpad students who passed the IISMA program in 2024 increased by 15% from the previous year. It consists of 71 undergraduate program students and 31 vocational program students.

Ronny said that the number of Unpad students who registered for the IISMA program reached 623 students. After passing the administrative selection, 260 seleceted participants go through the interview selection. Thus, a total of 102 students are selected and successfully qualified as participants in the 2024 IISMA and IISMA Vocational programs.

Moreover, Ronny said that the increasing number of this year’s participants was a result of collaboration between every party who contributed to the student’s interest in getting overseas experience through the IISMA program.

Besides, during the preparation process, students also receive various mentoring and training sessions that can support their preparation to participate effectively in the IISMA selection process.

“So, this awareness makes them to be more confident to register this year and prepare themselves better. When they depart, of course, we believe that they are the best ambassador of Unpad, who can represent our university,” said Ronny.

Ronny said that the preparation is focused on the administrative preparation and students’ soft skills to face the administrative and interview selection. Furthermore, another matter which needs to be prepared is their English language skills proven by any test form accepted by IISMA.

“This will be a strong foundation for them to apply (regarding) what they hope for within the IISMA program. The more they go to countries with highly prominent target universities, the higher the demand and selection for English language skills will be,” stated Ronny.

Ronny suggests that students of the IISMA program’s participants always maintain their communication with Unpad. It is an important matter for students to ensure that students successfully progress through all stages of the IISMA program until its completion. Ronny also hopes that students will be able to return to Indonesia while bringing with them a plethora of experiences that inspire fellow students.

“When they return to Indonesia, they will bring some information and lots of good memories which can be shared. So, more of their peers can explore the world beyond Indonesia, in distant places, bringing valuable lessons for themselves, for Unpad, and the future of Indonesia,” he concluded. (art/SA)*
