Rector of Unpad: Pimnas Becomes an Event to Spread Inspiration and Freindship

[Unpad Media Channel] The 36th National Students Scientific Week (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional or Pimnas) was officially closed. The closing of Pimnas 36, which simultaneously was momentum for the winner announcement, was held at the field of Basic Science Service Center (Pusat Pelayanan Basic Science), Universitas Padjadjaran Jatinangor Campus, on Thursday night (30/11/2023).

On that occasion, the Rector of Unpad, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, said that Pimas was an event to spread inspiration, knowledge, friendship, and effort to defend scientific work.

“We continue to aspire for the excellence of nationally accomplished students to persist, supporting the beloved Indonesia to advance and become more competitive,” said the Rector.

The Rector stated that this year, Pimnas was participated by 106 universities along with 525 teams, 2.411 participants, 525 supervising lecturers, 77 judges, and several official universities.

There were nine scheme which were competed this year. The schemes were PKM (Pusat Kreativitas Mahasiswa or Student Creativity Program) of Exact Research, PKM of social sciences and humanities, PKM of Entrepreneurship, PKM of Community Service, PKM of the Application of Science and Technology, PKM of Aspiration Creation, PKM of Innovative Works, PKM of Constructive Idea Videos, and PKM of Written Futuristic Ideas.

Besides the Presentation Class and Poster Competition, Pimnas held a public lecturer, Indonesia Talent Summit, Non-Pimnas Competition, and Innovation Technology Exhibition.

“Once again, thank you for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology that allowed Unpad to be the host,” she said.

On this opportunity, the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, also expressed his happiness to see the university’s enthusiasm for achieving accomplishments through Pimnas 36.

“I am delighted that the 2023 Pimnas 36 was organized successfully and involved 2.411 students from 106 universities all over Indonesia. The impressive number of participants reflected the extraordinary spirit of the academic community in Indonesian higher education,” stated Nadiem.

Nadiem said the implementation of Pimnas 36 coincided with the four-year journey of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology on accelerating higher education through the Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka or MBKM).

Aside from the enthusiastic students on achieving accomplishments, the lecturer and higher education leader also had huge motivation to promote student involvement in developing the research world in Indonesia.

“The spirit brings the education world, especially for higher education, to leap towards progress,” mentioned Nadiem.

Moreover, the Member of Commission X of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (DPR RI), Desy Ratnasari, also showed her pride towards students as the participants of Pimnas 36. Desy said that this event would bring the talents of inventors, researchers, and innovators who brought dignity and applied their knowledge to Indonesia.

“I hope all of the kids do not stop here to keep doing research and innovations but also to keep being optimistic,” she hoped. (arm/SA)*
