[Unpad Media Channel] Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional ke-36 (the 36th National Student Scientific Week or Pimnas 36) was officially inaugurated by Expert Staff for Talent Management at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Tatang Muttaqin, the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaan, Prof. Rina Indiastuti, Head of Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), Asep Kusmayadi, and the Head of the Ministry of Education, Research, Culture and Technology’s Center for Education Funding, Anton Rahmadi. The ceremony was held at the courtyard of Unpad’s Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, on Monday (27/11/2023).

“There are 106 universities attending this event and representing Indonesia from Aceh to Papua. It is the most important aspect, how each region and each university can be represented in national-level competition,” Tatang said. Tatang added that Pimnas’ participants are the best talents in Indonesia. University students, particularly the winners, were expected to keep improving their achievements.

Tatang also stated that every Pimnas participant who attended the event can be considered the best, whether they receive a medal or not. Tatang mentioned that every participant’s name would be registered to the national database of National Talent Management.

“It is only the beginning, not the end of the road in becoming a talent in research and innovation,” explained Tatang.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Rina Indiastuti said that Pimnas could be a friendly event for every Pimnas participant as a university student. The Rector hoped that starting from today, every Pimnas participant would build strong friendships.

“If the friendship is strong, and the scientific work excels, then every participant will be a source of talent and an excellent Indonesian leader in the future,” the Rector said.

The Rector of Unpad also hoped that the established friendship from Pimnas would not stop there and would always go on. Unpad as the host of the 36th Pimnas could learn a lot from the scientific works displayed and presented at the event.

“Hopefully, this will provide some insight for Unpad, because here, Unpad is the host and we try to be friendly, and hospitable. You are welcome to enjoy our campus,” said the Rector.

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita dr., SpM(K), M.Kes., Ph.D., said that the Pimnas 36 was attended by 525 PKM (Student Creativity Program) groups from 106 universities, including Unpad. The total number of attendants consists of 2411 university students and 77 judges.

“There are 9 competition in the PKM category,” mentioned Prof. Arief.

The ceremony also had a trophy handover from the representatives of IPB (Institut Pertanian Bogor) to the Head of BPTI, Asep Sukmayadi, M.S., to then be passed on to the Rector of Unpad. (art/SA)*
