Unpad Holds International Conference and Invites Food and Bioindustry Experts

[unpad.ac.id, 1/8/2019] University of Padjadjaran was the organizing facilitator at the 2019 International Conference on Food and Bioindustry at Puri Setiabudhi Residence, Bandung, 29 and 30 July. The seminar took the theme “Indonesia Towards Leading Agroindustry in Local Wisdom-Based Food and Bioenergy Sovereignity”.

Chair of the Organizer Robi Andoyo, Ph.D. said that the theme raised was expected to provide an overview of food and bioindustry observers regarding how the application of science and technology in overcoming food and energy security problems. The event was also supported by Pasundan University, Al Ghifari University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Garut University and SAFE Network.

The conference presented two main speakers, namely the Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture’s Food Security Agency Dr. Agung Hendriadi and Dr. Zuzy Anna Executive Director of Unpad SDGs Center.

The other speaker is Dr. rer nat. Sonja Kleinertz (University of Rostock, Germany), Prof. Nobutaka Ito from (Chiang Mai University, Thailand), Prof. Yazid Bindar, Ph.D. (Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology), Ir. Alik Sutaryat (SRI Organic Aliksa Foundation and Author of SRI Organic Rice), Prof. Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin (Putra Malaysia University), and Mr. Hatami Nugraha (PT. Cinquer Agro Nusantara).

Researchers, scientists, practitioners, NGOs, related professionals from all over Indonesia and Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Sri Lanka participated in the seminar. The event was also attended by 250 delegates from various institutions such as the Food Security Agency, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, universities, BPPT, industry professionals, SMEs, and representatives of the food industry.

A total of 115 oral presentations and 74 posters were displayed. This seminar also held other activities, such as the annual PATPI meeting, the Food Exhibition and Food Business Forum, and the first PATPI Award which was fully supported by the Food Safety Agency (BKP) of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. *
