Three Rector Candidates Explained the Role of Alumni for Unpad Progress

[unpad.ac.id, 09/29/2018] Three Rector Candidates of Unpad 2019-2024 held a discussion with the Unpad Alumni Association (Ika Unpad) through the “Tak Tek Talk: Dialogue of Rectors with Alumni”, in the Multipurpose Room Building 2, 4th Floor Unpad Campus, Dipati Ukur Street No. 35, Bandung, Saturday (29/9).

In alphabetical order, the three Rector hancellor Candidates were Aldrin Herwany, S.E., M.M., Ph.D .; Prof. H. Atip Latipulhayat, S.H., L.L.M, Ph.D .; and Prof. Dr. Obsatar Sinaga, S.IP., M.Sc. were conveying ideas about the work program in front of alumni and administrators of Ika Unpad.

The first speaker, Aldrin explained the role that alumni can play in contributing, especially as the center of Unpad enterpreneurship industry affiliation.

One of the roles could be carried out was to execute the presence of Unpad hospital. This is one of the work plans of Aldrin Herwany. The existence of this hospital opens the opportunity for Unpad collaboration with industry for Unpad research products, integrating Unpad Lab. Center, revitalization of facilities and infrastructure services for student orientation, and others.

Furthermore, Prof. Atip describes the role of Unpad alumni in three stages, namely pre-alumni, ahead of alumni, and becoming alumni. In the pre-alumni stage, it is expected that alumni can share their knowledge and experiences for example in the form of seminars, guest lecturers, career coaching, and giving internship opportunities.

While in the lead up to the alumni, it is hoped that there will be a job market oriented towards Unpad graduates as needed by the company. Finally, the alumni stage is expected to be able to collaborate with lecturers and students, an intensive periodic meeting to discuss Unpad, an information system in the form of a good and integrated website, and others.

Prof. Obsatar strongly encourages the involvement of alumni’s role in managing Unpad assets. In addition, he also encouraged the establishment of a career center to train newly graduated alumni to be able to compete for jobs.

He also wanted to involve credible alumni in the management of Unpad assets. In addition, the formation of cooperatives containing alumni, lecturers, and employees will be established so that the role of alumni in Unpad development can be felt. *
