[Unpad.ac.id, 18/10/16] Plant Clinic of the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran held a quiz competition for students of Agricultural Technologies at national level in Bale Sawala, Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, Tuesday (18/10). Winning the first position in this competition is the Bogor Institute of Agriculture, with the second position occupied by Universitas Gadjah Mada, and third place is achieved by the Universitas Brawijaya.
Chief Executive of the event, Ilyafad Syahputera said that this is one of a series of activities for Plant Protection Day 2016, held from today until Friday (21/10). In addition, also held in Bale Rucita is Paper Competition in which the winners will be announced on Friday.
Plant Protection Day 2016 was attended by 63 participants from 12 universities from all over Indonesia. Participated in the Quiz are 15 groups each consisting of 3 participants.
“In addition to broaden their insights, the event was also to establish the existence of each universities,” said Ilyafad when disclosing reasons for convening the Quiz.
Quiz Competition was conducted in three innings, starting from the Preliminary Round, Semifinal Round, until the Final Round. Acting as judges are lecturers from various universities in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, eleven participants compete in the Paper Competition. A number of papers have gone through the first stage of assessment by the jury, and today is the assessment phase two, namely presentations of papers in front of the jury. “Three participants will be selected as the first, second, and third winners,” said Ilyafad.
By convening this event, Ilyafad also hoped that the students of the Faculty of Agriculture in Indonesia could further add their insights in the areas of plant protection, in particular plant pests and diseases.
Plant Protection Day is an annual event held by Student Organization of Plant Clinic Faculty of Agriculture Unpad, and this year is the fifth implementation. This year’s theme is “Development of Technology in the Field of Plant Protection”.
In addition to Quiz and Paper Competition, other activities include Company Visit and City Tour on Wednesday (19/10), National Seminar on Thursday (20/10), and Jatinangor Agricultural Festival on Friday (21/10). *
