Head of BPLHD West Java: Environmental Vandals Equaled Terrorist

[Unpad.ac.id, 13/10/2016] Currently, a variety of environmental problems seemed to surface, including environmental problems in West Java. Environmental degradation endangered public safety and threatened human life so that the culprit could be equated with terrorists.

“Since pollution and destruction of the environment are very dangerous for the safety of people and threatening human life and sustainable development, we need the support of experts in universities, especially FISIP Universitas Padjadjaran in an effort to establish that perpetrators of pollution and environmental destruction to be categorized or identified as a terrorist environment,” said Chief Environmental Management Agency (BPLHD) West Java Province, Dr. Ir. Anang Sudarna, Ph.D., who attended as representation of Vice Governor of West Java during scientific presentation papers at 58th Anniversary of FISIP Unpad in FISIP Campus Unpad Jatinangor, Thursday (13/10).

Dr. Anang said that a series of natural disasters occurred in West Java showed that the condition of nature and the environment in a state of imbalance. Human activity is the main contributing cause environmental damage. Tragically, several cases of environmental destruction brought to trial yet to give deterrent effect to the perpetrators, whether due to an acquittal or sanctions are too mild.

“If the environmental conditions is good, water will be abundantly and healthy availably. It can produce abundant and healthy food sources, and to be a source of environmentally friendly energy,” said Dr. Anang.
