Course coordinator of OKK, Dr. Wahju Gunawan, M.Sc., said the program encourages new students to implement the ideas in the form of activity in the community. Activities program will be implemented focused on aspects of the sport, the arts, and creativity.

“Hopefully, there are creative ideas for a collaborative activity between universities through student with the community,” said Dr. Wahju at the meeting with representatives of the Head of Neighborhood and Jatinangor leaders in Bale Building Sawala Rectorate Building Campus Jatinangor, Friday (30/09).

Further, Dr. Wahju said the main goal of OKK in society is to encourage students to understand the character of the people on campus Unpad. Various creative ideas generated are expected to unite Unpad academic community with the Jatinangor community.

“OKK in Unpad is not to give birth to athletes, but it should resulted in students who are close to the community. Sports, art, and creativity to the media,” he revealed.

New students will be grouped around the neighborhood blocks of 136 districts throughout Jatinangor. Each neighborhood block, said Dr. Wahju, will consist of 13-15 new students, accompanied by senior students as facilitators and the supervisor as the neighborhood block coordinator.

On October 7 until 14, at the 5th and 6th meeting of OKK subjects, students will perform the first phase of exploration to the entire neighborhood. At this stage, students are listing various potentials and social-owned facilities in every neighborhood and identifing a variety of arts, sports, and institutional elements that exist in society.

“At these two meetings, the identification must be completed. The goal is to design OKK activities with the community. So that on the 14th meeting, they had to start exercising and art in the community, “said Dr. Wahju.

Sports and cultural activities are tailored to the potential and availability of support facilities in each RW. Dr. Wahju said, not all students are required to engage in both activities. “If it was usually an art student, then focus on the arts. If in the exercise, focus on the sport, “continued Dr. Wahju.

At the next OKK meeting, students will consolidate the community in RT, RW, and villages. The purpose of the consolidation is to implement the various plans that have been initiated. Dr. Wahju also pushed for programs to be implemented can continue.

Director of Education, Prof. Budi Setiabudiawan who was also present at the gathering, also hope there is active involvement of the RW and the public.

“Hopefully OKK subjects can produce benefits for students, faculty, and the community,” said Prof. Budi. *
