Unpad Won Awards at The 1st China-ASEAN Youth Forum and Public Speaking Contest

[Unpad.ac.id, 8/08/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran participated in the event “The 9th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) & The 2nd China-ASEAN Education Minister Roundtable Conference” in Guizhou University, People’s Republic of China, 1 – 7 August. This event was held to promote educational cooperation between ASEAN countries and China.

Unpad’s delegates performed on “The 1st China-ASEAN Youth Forum and Public Speaking Contest 2016” and participated in “The 9th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) & The 2nd China-ASEAN Education Minister Roundtable Conference” in Guizhou University, People’s Republic of China, 1 – 7 August. *

In a release received by Unpad’s Public Relation, it was mentioned that this event was attended by students and professors from several universities in China and ASEAN countries. The theme presented in this event was Education First, Make Dreams Come True Together, which was a threshold of the “ASEAN-China Educational Exchange Year”. This is the most important event in the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations.

Unpad was the only university in Indonesia invited directly by the Government of People’s Republic of China. The other participants from Indonesia were generally students who are currently studying in China.

The delegation was represented by the Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr.Ir. Heryawan Kemal Mustafa, M.Sc., two lecturers from English Department, Dr. Lia Maulina Indrayani, M.Hum., and Erlina Zulkifli Mahmud, M.Hum., along with two students from the faculty of social and political sciences, Navajo Bima Hadisuwarno (international relations) and Syafrida Hanum (Public Administration).

The delegation also participated in “The 1st China-ASEAN Youth Forum and Public Speaking Contest 2016” in 1 – 4 August. In the competition, Navajo and Syafrida participated in Public Speaking Contest, while Erlina Zulkifli took part in writing competition and paper presentation of educational cooperation of China-ASEAN. The participants of Public Speaking were accompanied by Dr. Lia as the supervisor.

In these competitions, Unpad won the 2nd Winner of Best Delegation. The overall winner title was based on two achievements earned by Unpad, i.e. The Winner of Excellent Adviser won by Erlina, 2nd Winner/Best Speakers of the 2016 Contest Public Speaking earned by Navajo. In addition, Unpad also received the award for The Best Team Organization in organizing and team-building.

In addition to being invited officially by the Government of the PRC, Unpad were also invited directly by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to sign the MoU of Scholarship Grant from the Chinese Government for Unpad’s students. The signature of the MoU was based upon the fruitful cooperations between Unpad and China.

China Scholarship Council (CSC) was referred to Unpad by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU),. The form of cooperation that has been done is Indonesian Language course at SISU. The MoU between Unpad and CSC was signed by Dr. Heryawan and the Secretary General of CSC, Dr. Liu Jinghui.*
