[Unpad.ac.id, 29/08/2016] Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad and Director of PT Tetas Gagas Mulia, Suyitno signed Charter of Cooperation in Rector Room, Jatinangor, Monday (29/08). This cooperation is conducted in order to develop Contrast Agent, as the downstream results of research that is being done Unpad.
“This is an important momentum. Hopefully this will be a good path for us to produce its other products, “said Rector.
Research in the development of contrast agent has been developed by a team of researchers of FMIPA, Universitas Padjadjaran, in collaboration with a number of researchers from various faculties in Unpad and also various parties, such as Kimia Farma, National Nuclear Energy Agency, and the Center for Research and Technological Development of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources. According to the Rector, various studies conducted Unpad may not be continued if not for the support of the industrial sector.
“We are very grateful. This would not have been possible without the support of the industrial sector. No matter how strong as any university conducted research, even with our best ability, this is not something we could do alone, without collaboration,” said Rector.
More than collaboration, Rector expects “interdependence” between universities and industrial sector, as well as other sectors such as community, media, and government.
Contrast agent is a chemical compound that can be used to diagnose disease using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In this case, PT Tetas Gagas Mulia will cooperate in producing a contrast agent developed by Unpad.
“We have developed contrast agents, and one of them, since 2006, has been able to go downstream, can be produced on a large scale with the help of PT Tetas Gagas Honor,” said professor and researcher of the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Husein H. Bahti.
Commissioner of PT. Tetas Gagas Mulia, Nunung Haryanto, welcomed the results of research conducted by team of Unpad. According to her, the results of this study can be a contribution for the nation, particularly in the health field. She is also committed that they wanted to realize this Unpad idea.
“We want to produce these ideas,” said Nunung.
Meanwhile, Dean of FMIPA Unpad, Prof. Dr. Sudradjat, MS, said that this is one of the attempts to ground researches in Unpad. The next thing to consider is the regulation of commercialization.
“In order for this to be an Unpad Product, Unpad should be the one who conducted promotion and marketing. Of course, with cooperation with various companies, he said.*
