Jajang Ramadhan Participated in ASEAN Youth Exchange Program 2016 in Thailand

[Unpad.ac.id, 15/08/2016] Jajang Ramadhan, student of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran was selected to represent Indonesia in ASEAN Youth Exchange Program 2016 held by the ASEAN Studies Center in cooperation with Chulalongkorn University dan ASEAN-Korea Centre, in Thailand on 2–10 August 2016.

During the event, Jajang also participated in the ASEAN-Korea Youth Network Workshop at part of the ASEAN Youth Exchange Program (Youth Lead)’s annual program. This year, the event brought up the theme “Marine Conservation – Promoting the Sustainable Use of Coastal and Marine Resources” focusing on the joint efforts of ASEAN and Korea in achieving sustainable marine ecosystem through marine conservation, promotion, and improvements on development capacity in managing ecosystem and natural resources as stated in the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community 2025 framework.

In his opening speech, Prof. Suthiphand Chirathivat, Executive Director of ASEAN Studies Center, Chulalongkorn University said that in order to achieve ASEAN 2025 with stability, prosperity, and sustainability, a good cooperation among the ASEAN countries was crucial. The youth as the next generation played an important role in implementing three pillars of ASEAN Community: Political Security Community, Economic Community, and Socio-cultural Community.

In a release received by Unpad PR, Jajang expressed his pride to be having taken part in the program.

“I’m proud to be one of the representatives from Indonesia to join the prestigious event, because to be selected, we must pass all the requirements that include educational background, communication skill, student organizational experiences, essay writing, and GPA point,” he said.

The program lasting for nine days in Bangkok, Amphawa, and Chanthaburi was attended by 100 young delegates from 10 countries in Southeast Asia and South Korea.

The outcomes of this program include comprehensive knowledge and understanding, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperations among Southeast Asian countries. In addition, participants are encouraged to identify and analyze complicated and challenging issues, particularly those of environment, economy, and community, in the future with the solutions that may be applicable*
