[Unpad.ac.id, 25/07/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran opened new study program equivalent to specialist of Primary Physician Services (DLP) in Faculty of Medicine. Prospective students of this program are doctors of Indonesian Citizen graduated from accredited Faculty of Medicine.
Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad explained that the study program opening for Primary Physician Services at Unpad was conducted to improve public health services, especially for promotional and preventive aspects. DLP is a specialist in the field of generalist who consistently applies principles of Family Medicine, supported by Community Medicine and Public Health Sciences and able to lead and organize primary health care.
“With improved competence, especially in the capacity of primary care leading to processing comprehensive primary healthcare, especially with the implementation BPJS now, hopefully later, the aspects of prevention, the management of public health will get better, with more powerful basic medical science, “said Rector during press conference at Executive Lounge Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35 Bandung, Monday (25/07).
With improved primary services, morbidity rate was expected to decrease as result of health promotion and preventive measures. “Capacity of strong physician in preventive and promotion aspect is required, to provide better management of public health and not only relying on existing community health centers,” said Rector.
