KKNM PPMD Unpad, Collaboration of Unpad Students and Professor with West Java Society

[Unpad.ac.id, 19/07/2016] Student Field Work (KKNM) Lecturer Engagement with Society (PPMD) is a routine activity that is always carried out by Universitas Padjadjaran. KKNM PPMD is one course with 3 credits required to be taken by each student to complete Graduate (S1) program at Universitas Padjadjaran. KKNM program is an academic activity that involves management of academic affairs, student affairs, and community engagement section within University Padjadjaran.

Goal of KKNM PPMD of July to August 2016 batch are among others to provide the real and direct learning experience in public for students; to improve insight, sensitivity, empathy, attitudes and social behavior of the students to the community; to train students developing their potential in the community, both practically and theoretically; and to improve accessibility of Universitas Padjadjaran for community and improve cooperation with stakeholders as a tangible implementation of the program Unpad Nyaah Ka Jabar.

Program KKNM PPMD period of 2016 has theme of “Through the Field Work Students and Professors Enters Village, Improving Campus Engagement for Character Building in Society of Life Nation and State.” This program is one of the academic programs of Universitas Padjadjaran under Vice Rector of Academic and Students Affairs Universitas Padjadjaran of Directorate of Education. In practice, the KKNM PPMD program does not only involve element of students, but also involves a part of student and the field supervisor. In this period, field supervisors are directly held by Professors at University of Padjadjaran, as a tangible manifestation of the concept of Professor Enters Village, proclaimed by Rector some time ago.

kknm2016bkknm2016cPPMD KKNM program period July-August 2016 will be implemented in 118 villages in 13 districts over the district of Indramayu, Majalengka, Purwakarta and Subang Regency, for 30 days, from July 19, 2016 until August 20, 2016 involving 2,383 students and 59 professors from 16 faculties at Universitas Padjadjaran.

In addition to assisting and guiding KKNM students, Unpad Professor involvement at PPMD KKNM program is a a real contribution of the professors at Universitas Padjadjaran in the development of areas in West Java. The professors will implement the community engagement program for four months, from July 2016 until October 2016. It is expected that, with the ability and competency of these professors, they will produce a tremendous impact for the development of areas in West Java, both its human and natural resources.

The implementation of the program Professor Enters Village is also aimed at restoring their capacity as academic leader to encourage the strengthening of research activity and devotion, so as to encourage and generate the usefulness of research results to the community and the region, especially in West Java. *
