[Unpad.ac.id, 21/12/2015] Unique U-Camaintian (Unpad-Three Players Playing In Turns Chess Game) chess tournament was held on Sunday (21/12) at Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Jln. Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung. A total of 80 teams from 20 provinces in Indonesia participated in on this sixth tournament.
Ilham Muslim Ramadan, the chairman of the U-Camaintian 2015, said that this year’s tournament two chess Grand Master (GM), GM Susanto Megantoro and GM Cerdas Barus, as well as international masters, FIDE master, and national master. Director of Student Affairs and Alumni Padjadjaran University, Dr. Ir. Heryawan Mustafa Kemal, M.Sc. opened the event with total prize money of 35 million IDR for 20 winners.
Furthermore, this Arabic Literature from Faculty of Arts Unpad explained that the mechanism of the U-camaintian tournament was similar to the previous formula. A team consisted of three people playing in one chessboard. Every player in the team is given the opportunity of running a chess pawn before the next player takes turn.
“Every player is given an 15 seconds with additional three seconds to move a chess pawn,” Ilham said during the U-camaintian tournament.
At this tournament, the entire team played in seven turns. The team with most wins or highest scoring becomes the tournament champion.
Ilham said U-camaintian has the potential to be an international event. PB PERCASI has said to have confirmed the plan to hold U-camaintian tournament for chess athletes in National Sports Week (PON) in 2016.
“We wish to register U-camaintian technical game to standard Swiss Manager. We are expecting U-camaintian to spread into the world, “said Ilham.
