Two students of Unpad Faculty of Geological Engineering won the first place at the paper competition held by University of Indonesia

[Unpad.ac.id, 18/11/2013] Two students of Unpad Faculty of Geological Engineering, Nanda Najih Habibil Afif and Rania Abdullah won the first place in the Paper Competition organized by the University of Indonesia Faculty of Engineering (FT UI). The event is an annual event held in the Metallurgy and Material’s Week (MnM’s Week) with the theme “Innovations in materials and Technologies for Sustainable Energy”. [Unpad.ac.id, 18/11/2013] Two students of Unpad Faculty of Geology Engineering, Nanda Najih Habibil Afif and Rania Abdullah won the first place in the Paper Competition organized by the University of Indonesia Faculty of Engineering (FT UI). Nanda and Kevin writing paper entitled “oil Sinchan (Single Chain of Non-Sulphurade): Hydrocarbon Oil production from Waste Food of animal (Zoo-Food Trash) is based on the principle of Ionization reaction of CaCO3 and Metamorfisme”. After going through a fairly lengthy research phase, both managed to be among the top 10 national finalists in the event.

As for other universities who also managed to qualify as finalists in the event were University of Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, University of Brawijaya, University of Riau, Sultan Agung Tirtayasa University.

The Grand final of the event held at the Multimedia room of the Engineering Center, FT UI on 15th-16th November.  At the event each finalist delivered a presentation infront of 4 judges who are researchers from LIPI and lecturer from FT UI. After doing a 10-minute presentation, for the next 20 minutes, they were bombarded with some question related to their research.

The final resulted in FTG Unpad team as the first winner of the 2013’s MnM’s Week. Both the 2nd place and 3rd place were won by University of Brawijaya, Malang. “I think the competition is very tight. Some of them did a research in the field of nano-energy. The judges are also very critical, “Nanda said. *
