[Unpad.ac.id, 14/11/2013] Today (4/11), representing Pertamina, the director of upstream operations, Muhamad Husen, is giving a talk in Bale Santika Unpad campus Jatinangor before hundreds of Unpad students on the company’s achievement and future targets. Pertamina is now the number one energy provider in Indonesia and is expected to become the Asian energy champion in 2025.

In relation to the increasing dependence on the national fuel consumption, Husen argues that the country has now to shift its focus on energy diversification (energymix). Approximately 40% of Indonesian oil refineries import crude oil from other countries. “It is necessary that we dare do things differently. Take risks. Step out of your comfort zones,” says Husen.

The talk is part of the company’s program called “Pertamina Teaches”, where pertamina representatives give a number of lectures in universities statewide. As of Unpad, besides the talk, the program also includes planting tree program called “Pertamina plants 100 million trees,” 7900 of which are planted in Unpad campus in Jatinangor. The first two trees are planted by the rector of Unpad and the Pertamina’s director of upstream operations, witnessed by Unpad’s vice rector of human resources, facilities, and governance; the head of bureau for human resource, law, and governance, and board of directors of Pertamina. “Planting trees is not only part of green movement, but also of future investment,” says Husen.

Unpad rector, in his welcoming speech, expresses his gratitude and promises to continuously tend the trees so that they can grow well and benefit both the campus and society at large.
