[Unpad.ac.id, 24/09/2013] The event Earth (Education and Art with HMG Unpad) organized by Geology Student Organization (HMG) Universitas Padjadjaran and Student Executive Body (BEM) Faculty of Geology Unpad has just finished. It is a part of Geology Competition for high school students in Bandung with a twist of artistic elements.
Geology Quiz for high school students in Bandung is organized by Geology Student Organization (HMG)
The competition includes quiz, poster making, and wall magazine. The poster and wall magazine competitions theme the recently earth issues, such as global warming, save the earth save the future, and such. The geology quiz is a competition where participants are foremost given the materials so that they have a brief illustration on Geology.
The first day of the event at Japanese Center, Faculty of Arts includes poster making, wall magazine, and quiz. The second day is organized at Geology Museum with a fun trip explaining kinds of rock, fossils, geological time scale, disaster, the relation between Geology and other disciplines, and process of Earth forming from time to time. On the same day, the winners of the competitions are also announced.
The first winner of quiz is SMAN 1 Lembang, and the second place is SMAN 3 Bandung. The winner and runner-up for wall magazine competition are SMAN 6 Bandung and SMAK Yahya Bandung respectively. SMAK Yahya Bandung comes as the first winner and SMAN 21 Bandung is the runner-up for poster making.
In the release, it is mentioned that the event is also promotion for Geology by the faculty to high students, considering the number of geologists in Indonesia is still small, so that regeneration is crucial. The event is responded positively proven by the number of participants.
