500 students from 49 universities in West Java Province attend workshop on entrepreneurship in Unpad

[Unpad.ac.id, 26/09/2013] Unpad in collaboration with Bank Mandiri organized a workshop on young entrepreneurs (WMM)  and Mandiri Young Teknopreneur (MYT) yesterday (26/09) in Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad campus Bandung. The event involved 500 students from 49 universities in West Java Province.

The program was officially opened by the vice rector academic and student affairs, Prof. Engkus Kuswarno, M.S. He claimed that such event would boost the number of young entrepreneurs in Indonesia, achieving the target of 2% of the total population. “It is now your turn to rock the world,” he added.

Speaking in the event were two successful entrepreneurs, Nicko Widjaja, CEO Systec Group, Wahyu Aditya from hellomotion and Komite Desain Republik Indonesia, and Wahyudin Zarkasyi, the head of education office of West Java Province. Widjaja spoke on business strategy that put emphasis on offense. He claimed to have successfully develop ventura-based technology business which helps financing affiliated companies. His company has now embraced Dwarapala, an internet site that enables entrepreneurs to start their online shops. “Many companies have their own potentials. We give solution to maximize their very potentials,” said he, who also teaches at Universitas Pelita Harapan.

As for Aditya, he elaborated the importance of hobbies which can be the inception of entrepreneurial success. He plunged himself into creative industry after he realized his skills in imagining and drawing. “In 2006, I established the

Kementrian Desain Republik Indonesia which stresses audio visual strengths. Many Indonesian government offices have rather unattractive logos or company symbols. “I was determined to actually make them more interesting,” said he who went as finalist at WMM in 2009. His determination turned out well. Many people visited his site, which enabled it to grow even bigger and regularly organize design competitions. “WMM has given me the opportunity to learn more about networking and how our products are marketed,” he concluded.
