Three Geology Unpad students represent Indonesia at the Fifth International Conference on Climate Change in Mauritius

[Unpad.ac.id, 25/07/2013] Three students from the Faculty of Geology (FTG) Unpad, R.A. Julia Satriani, Hafizh Zakiyan, and M. Nurisman Syarif represented Indonesia in an international seminar titled Fifth International Conference on Climate Change: Impacts and Responses in Port Louis, Mauritius, Africa, on June, 18-19. They were not the only representative from Indonesia in the seminar presenting international researchers, experts, and scientists, but also the only undergraduate participants in the occasion.

In the seminar, they presented a paper titled “Paleoclimatic Modelling: An Approach to Paleoclimate in Central Java, Indonesia Based on Foraminifera Fossil Assemblage” “This paper aims to recognize paleoclimatic condition from Eosen to Miosen era in southern Central Java as a significant scientific evidence of global warming and climate change in tropical area in the prehistoric time,” the three students said in their release to Unpad Public Relation Unit.

The paper presentation received a positive response from the participants, particularly researchers and scientists. They also participated in Scientific Evidence Circle, a forum discussing scientific evidences which support  the prevention of global climate change, especially global warming.

In the forum, they sat together with Geological scientists presenting in the seminar, such as  Anastasios Tsonis (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA), Dr. Lila Warszawski (The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Jerman), Prof. Abayomi Samuel Oyekale (North-West University, Mafikeng, Afrika Selatan), as well as with other participants from universities overseas.
