Unpad committed to helping students overcoming financial obstacles through Unpad’s Integrated Service

[Unpad.ac.id, 13/06/2013] The implementation of single tuition rate (UKT) for freshmen admitted via SNMPTN 2013 route is pursuant to Minister of Culture and Education’s decree No. 55 year 2013, stipulated on Mary 25, 2013. Given the varying financial condition of the students’ parents and guardians, single tuition is divided into five payment categories, the first of which is for students coming from financially unstable families. “Unpad gathers the information on student’s financial condition from the survey online survey that students or their parents/guardians must fill in upon admission.

According to Prof. Engkus Kuswarno, Unpad vice rector I, all information must be stated accurately. “This is principally to create sense of justice. Those who are financially well off can help those who have unstable financial condition,” said he.

Based on statistic report and consolidation from a team consisting of Unpad rector, vice deans 1 dan 2, and the heads of bureaus in Unpad, the five categories can now be grouped into three criteria, the first of which coming from category 1 are students with financial difficulties. Group two are students coming from category 2, 3 and 4, without financial difficulties. Group three are students who are coming from families with a very stable financial condition.

The first group will only have to pay the tuition in the amount of Rp 0 to 500,000. The second group pays Rp. 2,500,000 per semester. And the last group pays the highest.

Should there be misinformation about each family’s financial condition, Unpad organizes an integrated service to help them correct the data they have filled in the online survey and verify them immediately. “We are committed to give solution to students and parents. What’s more we are supported by representatives from student executive body (BEM). They really have strong initiatives,” added Kuswarno.

Helpdesk for the integrated service is located at the rectorate building, on the first floor and open during work hours. Tuition payment deadline is on June 16 at appointed banks. As for academic registration, it can be done on June 18 and 19, 2013.
