Popy Rufaidah, SE., MBA, “The most important thing in entrepreneurship is not only capital, but also, perseverance”

 

[Unpad.ac.id, 27/06/2013] To become an entrepreneur, a big financial capital is not enough because the essence of starting a business is having perseverance and working hard, so that the business will run optimally.

“The most essential part of starting a business is a positive thinking, encouraging self that job is joy,” Popy Rufaidah, SE., MBA., Ph.D., Vice Dean of Student Affairs of Faculty of Economy and Business Unpad explained this when speaking in talkshow called “The Improvement of Student Entrepreneurship Program Padjadjaran University” on Thursday (27/06) in Bale Sawala Rector Building, Unpad Jatinangor.

Rufaidah said that to become successful, an entrepreneur should be “educated”, meaning that they are capable of maintaining quality and marketing the business flexibly and it has been proven effective for many successful entrepreneurs. She, who is also a regular speaker in “Gebyar Marketing” show on PRFM radio, added that there are several reasons why people start a business, such as hobby, making a living, proceeding family business, opportunity, or habit since they were in school or college.

In the same occasion, Tutut Sedyawati from Putera Sampoerna Foundation also expressed her agreement that positive thinking results in a good opportunity; thus, it is important to be perseverant, starting it from the smallest things. An entrepreneur is also expected to have integrity and diligence.

The talkshow was organized by CISRAL Library, cooperating with PT. HM Sampoerna Tbk. and Student Entrepreneurship Program. It was officially opened by Vice Rector III Unpad, Dr.med. Setiawan. In his speech, he said that the show hopefully results in making entrepreneurship an integrated part of learning process in Unpad.

Besides Rufaidah and Sedyawati, the speakers of the show were the Head of Learning and Student Affairs Unpad Dr. Isis Ikhwansyah, S.H., M.H., CN., Recruitment Center Head PT. Smart Tbk, Eddi Santoso, and several entrepreneurs. The program also presented booths exhibiting products.
