“We are now establishing partnership with three Indonesian universities, one of which is Unpad,” said Priyono. Last year, there were 25 students took part in the exchange program. This year, the exchange program is expected to go further involving faculty and staff. Open for all disciplines, the programs that are to be made available are student exchange, teacher exchange, staff exchange, double degree, joint research, joint seminar, and joint publication.

As for Japanese language and cultural studies, according to Kunimasa, the Sangyo University offers Indonesian students to take a language learning program in Japan. “We have a program that enables foreign students to study Japanese language and culture in Japan. This can get the students to feel the perfect traditional Japanese atmosphere in Kyoto,” said he.

Cooperation agreement has been previously reached in 2007 in which a memorandum of understanding was signed. “We are now aiming for more elaborate programs. Thus, we are preparing necessary documents that may support this cooperation,” Handarto concluded.
