FISIP Students as Delegates in the ASEAN Youth Camp 2013 in Thailand

[Unpad.ac.id, 14/02/2013] Three students, studying in the Government Science Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Unpad went as Indonesian delegates in the ASEAN Youth Camp 2013 in Phra Nakhon Rajabhat University, Thailand, on January, 27-31. They are Taufik Nurhidayatulloh, Rinaldi Yudakusumah, and Achmad Dima.

“We had the opportunity to give presentation and art performances on Indonesian culture before other delegates from 9 ASEAN countries,” said Nurhidayatulloh when interviewed in the Unpad PR office on Wednesday (13/02). Their performance was highly appreciated for their good command in English and presentation subjects.

Other delegates knew Indonesia only to the extent that it was only Jakarta or Bali. Nurhidayatulloh became concerned with this and therefore encouraged let the world know better Indonesia. “Each country has its own culture. Indonesia is the country with the most cultures. Almost half of all cultures in ASEAN countries reside in Indonesia,” said he. To let the world know what Indonesia really is is not an easy task. Therefore, international communication skills is needed to promote the country.

ASEAN Youth Camp 2013 is an ASEAN level convention for youth from 9 countries in the region. The camp is regularly organized to strengthen mutual understanding among ASEAN nations and to create ASEAN Youth Community in 2015.
